The Federal Government has confirmed that the application deadline for the HomeBuilder Grant has now been extended to Wednesday the 14th of April 2021 with building contracts (new builds and substantial renovations) signed between Friday the 1st of January 2021 and Wednesday the 31st of March 2021 being eligible for $15,000.
The interest in the HomeBuilder Grant since it was first introduced on Thursday the 4th of June 2020 has caught the government by surprise and has been the most successful scheme of it’s kind in two decades.
Homes Built And Jobs Secured
This further extension ensures that thousands more homes can be built and tens of thousands more jobs secured while Australia prepares for a COVID safe restart to immigration and population growth.
It is a key part of the government’s economic recovery plan for Australia keeping people in jobs and putting Australians’ dream homes within reach.
HomeBuilder saved the construction industry from falling off a cliff earlier this year but with no substantial immigration likely next year, it makes sense to extend this economic bridge further.
The scheme has been a $15 billion boon for the sector with another $6 billion expected thanks to this extension.
More Time, More Contracts And More Homes
This extra three months is expected to see a further 15,000 homes approved under the scheme, in addition to the 27,000 homes the scheme is already expected to support.
Affording builders more time which means more contracts and the ability to put more people into homes.
Ensuring a steady pipeline of construction activity and maintaining the momentum in Australia’s economic recovery.
