SA First Home Owner Grant Qualification Criteria
To be eligible for the SA FHOG, you’ll need to meet several conditions:
- At least one applicant must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident.
- It's available to home buyers aged 18 years or older. You cannot but your home under a company or trust structure.
- You must be building a new home
- The purchase price of the new home (house and land included) must be less than $575,000
- You must not have previously owned a residential property anywhere in Australia before 1 July 2000.
- You must not have owned residential property in Australia after 1 July 2000, which you have lived in for six months or more.
- You need to live in the home for a minimum of six months within 12 months of taking ownership or following completion of construction.

How Much Can I Borrow?
The first step in the process is working out how much you can borrow. We'll help you with an initial calculation of your borrowing capacity and through this process we'll also uncover which of the new grants you qualify for. With so many banks to choose from and so many grants available, we'll do the heavy lifting for you. The best part... this can all be done over the phone and online in under 10 minutes.
Choose Your Suburb & Find A Block
Next, we help you find the perfect suburb for your first home and importantly, we'll help guide you on block selection within that suburb. This is an important step as many blocks of land will not allow you to qualify for the new $25,000 grant! Blocks must be ready to go (not waiting for council approval) otherwise you'll miss out. We also have a panel of developers with exclusive off market opportunities.
Choose Your Home Design & Builder
Finally, we'll introduce you to the approved builders on our Builder Panel that offer you full turnkey properties, where your home is delivered completely finished inside and out. Not only that, the contract cannot be altered. This is VERY important as so-called "fixed price" packages usually have sub clauses which blow out the end build price. We'll help you with analysing your build contract.
